Why am I here?

You may be puzzled why I am posing such a deep philosophical question. The reason is this : In the treadmill of daily life we rarely have time to think about our life. So we go through this daily grind barely having energy at the end of the day.

So, What is the  solution? : The solution lies in finding an answer to the question “Why am I here?” . If you know your life's purpose,Congratulations !!!...This post is not for you .

Successful people are the ones who found out very early in their life on why they are here.  Warren Buffett started investing since the age of 12.Steve Jobs started out in his early 20s on building computers with aesthetic design. Steven Spielberg was 17 when he buttonholed the head of Universal's Editorial department to tell him about the films he was going to make. And the list is endless. Mr.Buffett,Jobs & Spielberg found out their purpose. They are one of their kind because they found it when they were young. It is never too late.. we can take a leaf out of their book in at least attempting to find out NOW about our purpose of life.

I like the method that productivity guru David Allen proposes in his book “Making It All Work”….Looking at life from different altitudes
-Runway ….Daily Life …where the actions really happen
                -10000 ft ….Projects…1-2 months...
                -20000 ft…Areas of Focus…1 to 2 years
                -30000 ft…Goals …2 to 5 years from now
                -40000 ft…Vision…What is next? …5 to 10 years
                -50000 ft…Purpose…Why I am here?

So, If you are overwhelmed by the “Why am I here?” question, Try looking at your life from different altitudes. Once you have the purpose, you can pick only the activities in your daily that contribute to your purpose. You can conveniently ignore others thereby saving time, retaining Focus & above all making the Life very Entertaining.

Arnold Bennett was a prolific author in the early 20th Century. I read his book "How to live on 24 hours a day" He explains his process in his book : that resulted him in being a prolific author: following are the learning: even in the busiest week, find 7-1/2 hours of time beyond the work ; Focus those 7-1/2 hours on thinking Time practice honest self-reflection using the below questions: what do want for yourself? what motivates you? what scares you? what embarrasses you? What are you proud of? What beliefs do you have that might be wrong? Are you caring for yourself or harsh with yourself? Authors Arnold Bennett
