Archer and the Prize!

Tran Xu  Chinese Sage “When the archer shoots for no particular prize  He has all his skills When he shoots to win a brass buckle He is already nervous When he shoots for gold He goes blind Sees even two targets And is out of his mind His skills have not changed But the prize divides him When you are living for nothing You have all your skills  You have all your energy You are relaxed You don't care It doesn't matter whether you win or lose"

Three most difficult things

The three most difficult things  Antony D’Mello Awareness The three most difficult things for Humans are: Not physical feats or intellectual accomplishments:  They are :  Returning love for hate Including the excluded; Admitting that you are wrong But these are the easiest If you have not  Identified with the “me”

Empty techniques

Empty techniques Jiddu Krishnamurti Book of life Creativity comes first,  not technique  We have technique How to put a house  how to build a bridge How to assemble a motor So we do not love a living thing So having lost the song We pursue the singer  The joy of singing is essential When the joy is there  technique can be built from nothing  You will invent your own technique  You won't have to study elocution or style

Anonymously creative

Anonymously creative page 272 JK Book Of Life Have you ever thought about it ? We want to be famous as a writer, poet, painter, politician, singer or what you will  Why? because we really don't love what we are doing  if you love to sing or to paint, to write poems If you really loved it You would not be concerned with  whether you are famous or not!   To aspire to be famous is - stupid, tawdry, and trivial!  it has no meaning   but because we don't love what we are doing  We want to enrich ourselves with Fame we are taught to love success not what we are doing The result has become more important than action There is beauty in a creative human , living anonymously and in there, is richness and great beauty  EE Cummings said To be nobody but yourself   in a world, which is doing its best  night and day, to make you like everybody else means  to fight the hardest battle which  any human being can fight

Live in the world anonymously

Live in the world anonymously Page 272 , Jiddu Krishnamurti Book of life  the whole world is worshipping success  you hear stories of how the poor boy studied at night and eventually became judge  or how by selling newspapers ended a being a multi-millionaire  You are fed up with the glorification of success  with the achievement of great success, there is also a great sorrow  But most of us or caught up in the desire to achieve Success is much more important to us than the understanding and dissolution of sorrow My Note: We all want to add to the successes rather than to chip away the Sorrows   Addition rather than subtraction Seems to be the curse

What does it hinge upon?

What does it hinge upon?  Inspired by Sam Zell  I need to figure out what does it Hinge upon? Take the example of a door = What does it hinge upon?  As you know  Hinge  is the point about which the door opens or closes  Similarly, an issue is like a closed-door  That you need to get to figure out how to open! You need to get to the bottom of it  to find the Hinge the root cause  upon which  the problem rests upon  once you find the Hinge  Then the solution is easy  All you need to do is To find the right point to apply the force to make it open

Focus on the Basics

By Andrew Kieran There used to be a time I hated the start of a skill. I didn’t enjoy the pain of being a beginner, the sting of sucking and the frustration that comes from stepping outside your comfort zone. But since I started writing, I’m a huge believer in the attitude, ‘If they can do it, why can’t I?’ I used to look at popular creators and tell myself that if I gave it a go, I could get there, too. The truth is for most of your desires, you’re not trying to master quantum physics or build rocket ships. Many people have learned what you want to learn. You might not become the world’s best, but there are simple steps you can take to at least get good  if you are curious enough to enjoy the learning process. Two things are key: First, you must identify the fundamentals. In golf, that seemed to be how you hold the club, how you move your body, and how you connect with the ball. In writing, it’s crafting engaging hooks, communicating concisely, and connecting with your reader. Once y

What is meditation?

Book of Life Jiddu Krishnamurti What is meditation? Our old brain is the conditioned Animalistic brain Cultivated through centuries of time- That is everlastingly seeking its own security, Own comfort! It is only when that old brain is quiet- You will see that there is a different  Kind of movement together! - And it is this movement that is going to  Bring clarity!  To understand, you must understand teh old brain- Be aware if it , know all movements, Its activities , its demands , its pursuits And that is why meditation is needed;  Through meditation, I meant to understand the  Operations of the Old Brain Watch it to know how it reacts Its responses, ite tendencies Its demands, its aggressive pursuits  When you it There is awareness of it without controlling it Without directing it  Without saying This good!  This is bad!  I will keep this!   I won't keep that! When you see the total movement of the mind When you see it totally  Then it becomes quiet!

Choiceless Awareness!

Book of Life Jiddu Krishnamurti Choiceless awareness! It is only the innocent mind - The mind unclouded by experience  Totally free from the past- It is only such a mind that can Perceive reality! If you see the truth of that  If you see it for a split second You will know the extra-ordinary clarity Of a mind that is innocent!

Edge of all thought!

Book of Life Jiddu Krishnamurti Edge of all thought!  The mind has exercised fully its capacity to think - And has come to the edge of all thought Without having found an answer; Therefore it becomes quiet!  = not through weariness Noth through fatigue - but spontaneously quiet There is an awareness without choice without any demand An awareness in which there is no anxiety And in that state of mind  There perception! It is this perception alone That will resolve all our problems!

problem solving by not solving!

Book of Life Jiddu Krishnamurti You have a problem, And you think about it Worry over it You exercise every means within the Limits of your thoughts to understand it Finally, you say,  “I Can do no more” Having inquired into the problem To the full extent of your capacity You leave it alone! Your mind is no longer worried  No longer tearing at the problem No longer saying: “I must find an answer !” so it becomes quiet - does it not? And in that quietness , You find an answer!

Physical time (vs) Psychological Time

Physical time (vs) Psychological Time  Pg.245: Book of life  Jiddu Krishnamurti Physical time :  If you want to catch a bus or get a train or  Meet an appointment tomorrow You must have chronological time ; But is there a tomorrow, psychologically,  Which is the time of the mind ?  … … Time is the past , present and Future Not by the watch! I had an experience an year ago that left an Imprint on my mind (memory) And at present I translate according to that experience Knowledge, tradition , conditioning  And I create the tomorrow I am caught in this circle!!! This is what we call living! This is what we call Time!

What is a religious mind?

What is a religious mind? Jiddu Krishnamurti Book of Life A religious mind is free of all authority Not only from authority imposed by another But also by the authority of the experience One has gathered - Which is of the past - which is tradition And the religious mind has no beliefs  No dogmas,  It moves from fact to fact  Therefore religious mind is  The scientific mind!  (and we cannot say vice-versa!)

Attention

Attention is the purest form of generosity Simone Weil Marginalian We need to befriend our attention - which is  Intentional , unapologetic discrimnator -Maria Popova We have to cure our faults by attention and not by will - Simone Weil Will is more a physical muscular thing - that is associated with pride Pride however contracts the spirit of Man Attention on the other hand, like prayer- expands the spirit of (Wo)Man! Love is the quality of attention we pay to things JD McClatchy

For this body of ours is a weight upon the soul

For this body of ours is a weight upon the soul Pg.98 Letters from a Stoic Seneca Seneca says :  Worldly pleasure is a load pressing down On the soul! And you need to receive it with philosophy The soul is imprisoned inside this gloomy house! So it seeks the sky whenever it can! And in contemplation, does it find rest!

Expectations!

On God and his expectations from his creations! Epictetus  An Human artist’s work may be made of Gold,Ivory or Marble But once made ,the statue - even if it be of God- Stands in that position for ever! But God’s works move and breathe!  They use and judge things of sense- The workmanship of such an artist! Will you dishonour him? One who delivered you to own cave saying: Keep this man for me:  Such as Nature made him Modest, Faithful , High-minded, Strength to Fear To passion, To perturbation! Accepting even sickness ,shame and death Without Injury to the spirit!

On Goods!

On Goods! Epictetus  As witness summoned by God - “Come and testify for me , that you are worthy Of being brought as a witness by me”  And if you reply to him - “I am in evil state , Master! I am undone! None cares for me! None gives me anything at all! All men blame , All speak evil of me” Is this what you speak to the calling? Rather you do this - Would you rather want men speak good of you? Speak good of them - first Try to do good unto then first For others to trust you - trust them first Others to respect you , respect them first!

Be a messenger worthy of God!

Be a messenger worthy of God!  Epictetus  Mozart :  Was said to have written many of his finest works as if taking dictation; A state of mind that facilitated his capacity to receive ideas! (From the Universe) Ilayarajaa :  As my mind quietens down, Tunes flow in to me;  Srinivasa Ramanujam : Goddess Namagiri utters mathematical formulas in my dream state of sleep;  Nikola Tesla : My brain is only a receiver; In the Universe there is a core from which we  Obtain knowledge , strength and inspiration I have not penetrated into the secrets of this core, But I know that it exists! We are all merely receivers! And it's our duty here to tune ourself to the frequency of the transmitter!
