5 Principles from Ancient Greeks to live by

 By David Perell:

1. Current vs Wind :

Novice sailors study Wind ; Experienced sailors - the Currents!

Winds change everyday ...but easy to feel;

Currents are predictable and persistent...but hard to see!

2. Akrasia: weakness of will:

It describes our tragic proclivity to act - against our best interests

even when we know what to do ; Know-Do gap

3. Nullius in Verba:

Take nobody's word for it;

Do your own investigations and figure things out for yourself!

4. Otium : Latin word for Leisure:

Play sports, Contemplate Life, Prsue writing - weeknds should be for this!

if not  the weekdays!

5. Serve : Self-sacrificed life is the great paradox of life;

the more you give with the no expectation of reciprocity, Happier you will be,

in this utility-maximizing selfish world!
