Wayanad Wilderness !

I am writing this blog as I sit through the traffic on the Bangalore roads. I had just returned ffrom a trip to Wayanad district in God’s Own Country- Kerela.
Wayanad is set among the hills on the Western ghats of Southern India. It is well known for Coffee and the tea plantations as well as the spices such as Cardamom,Pepper. The plantations from a distance look like a massive green sofa stitched on the mountain slope. Plantation is interspersed with tall betelnut tress as well as the pepper and cardamom plants. Wayanad is also endowed with natural lakes set in the mountaitn backdrop. Pookoote,Karalad & Banasura Sagar lake are some of them.
The pristine beauty of Wayanad lies in its wilderness. If you are an avid nature lover Wayanad is the place. It is relatively untouched by the commercialization that you normally associate with the tourist spots and retains the natural charm.

Wayanad has enough places for the wanderlust…ranging from the Mountain peaks,Lakes & Forest range. We stayed at the Coffee County Resort. The cottage is designed to look like a tree house and set amidst the coffee plantation. The cottage is surrounded by lush green canopy all around that gives you the feeling of wilderness. The flora and the fauna (Snails,Grasshoppers & Leeches are in ample!) are to be seen to be believed. The resort provides excellent service. We were served with authentic Kerela cuisine (Idiyappam ,Cucumber juice, Appam etc.,) that quenched our palate. Visual treat..Palate treat and overall a treat for our Minds…Screech !!!…..the BMTC driver has applied the brake…Welcome back to the cacaphony
