General Aptitude:
General Aptitude is a
must for folks who plan to pursue a Management degree(CAT/GMAT) or Study abroad
(GMAT/GRE/TOEFL). This aptitude is absolutely required for getting through
the Government/Public Sector exams (Banks, IAS, Public Sector exams).
Here the focus is on
rapid solving. So a lot of practice is needed to complete the Questions within
the prescribed time.
Quantitative Aptitude
This is nothing but your
Maths of 6-12th Standard. I would suggest the RS Agarwal book &
Competition Success Review Publications as a starting level. The next level
would be to check out the books of GRE. Final level would be the books/courses
for CAT exams for those of you keen on the Management Courses.
General English
This is more of a test
of your English vocabulary. This requires a bit more effort than Quantitative
Aptitude especially if your strength is not the English Language. The cliché “Read
English Newspaper Daily” is still the best advice that I can give. In addition,
you can refer to TOEFL/GMAT books to improve the vocabulary. Another technique
is to print “Word Cards” and carry it with you always to improve the
vocabulary.
General Knowledge
General Knowledge (G.K.) is
again more of a habit than a Quick skill that can be developed through a “Crash
Course”. Again “Read English Newspaper Daily”. Competition Success Review
Publications are a good source for base-lining your current skills and
improving it.
