Talent is only the starting point
Irving Berlin, Pg.21 : Ego is the Enemy, Ryan Holiday
Talent is insignificant. I know a lot of talented ruins
James Baldwin
I have this graph in mind: from the book: Growth Mindset by Carol Dweck
I can vouch for the above graph using myself :
Speaking of myself, from class 5 to 8, I had a lot of Talent - myself- no exaggeration :-)
I used to top my class, purely based on talent and not hard work!
Laziness was also part of me!
but then from class 9 onwards, Subjects became tougher while I was same lazy and did not match toughness with my hard work.
On the other hand, my classmates who may not have been as talented, put in sheer hard work through extra coaching, extra hours
That more than compensated for their lack of talent and scored fantastic marks!
Never fixate on talent alone!
