Let no act be without purpose
Marcus Aurelius - pg.15 : Stoic 6 Pack
Like a fire lays hold of what falls into it
A small spark would have been extinguished
but when fire is strong , it soon appropriates
itself to the matter that leaped on to it
And consumes it,
and rises by thus very material
Let no act be done without a purpose
(make purpose the very fire within)
and that shall make a material for itself
out of which opposes it!
My note:
Nassim Taleb says a similar thing in his book Anti-Fragile
Wind extinguishes a spark - timid flame
but the same wind energizes a Wild fire
such that the Fire shall make a material
out of the opposing force such as the Wind itself!
