Do,Observe,Correct !

In the world of archery, there are two types of shooters…I call them Type 1 & Type 2 ….

Type 1 archer  puts her total emphasis and focus on whether the arrows hit the target or not…
Type 2 archer puts the same emphasis and focus upon the process :  how to place her feet, the  grip on the bow, breathe pattern during the arrow release…
Can you guess which among the above two types is going to hit the bulls-eye more often ? …While you are thinking ,  I will try to help you with some clues here…

Most of us are of Type 1 : We tend to focus on the outcome…be motivated when we hit the target , get de-motivated when we don’t …in other words , past results drive the current actions .Now, let us take a much more closer look at the intriguing Type 2 archer...All she does is this :  go through a process without so much emphasis on the result…Do, Observe & Correct (DOC) . please remember that DOC is one of  deliberate and mindful motion!

Let us see a brief of the DOC process

Do:   Learn the fundamentals of the activity and practice !
Observe:  Take help of a friend ,mentor  or use technology to observe your practice
Correct:  identify one thing that you want to improve with your next practice

It is as simple or as complex as that!

Going back to the question that we started with, which type of archer is going to be successful? …the blind-folded answer is Type 2 !…. because, when  you put that much intensity, focus and sincerity into the process—such as feet position, bow grip, breathing pattern during the arrow release—then hitting the bulls-eye  simply becomes a side effect.

It has to happen!

What are you proud of? What beliefs do you have that might be wrong? Are you caring for yourself or harsh with yourself? Authors Arnold Bennett
