On giving advice:
Seneca : letters from a stoic
You are asking me for advice?
May I ask you: “Have you advised yourself first?”
I am not shameless to cure my fellowman
When I am ill myself!
I am ill in the same hospital as you
Sharing the remedy with you
Listen to me as If I am talking to myself
I am admitting to you my innermost thoughts
Perhaps you may complain that
I am sounding like a broken record
Its my fault,
For some remedy should merely be prescribed
For others - it must be forced down his throat!
