Each man is worth just as much as the thing he cares about
Marcus Aurelius - Meditations- 7.3
Recently i identified the purpose of my Life :
"To care about the things I do, and Teach others to be as great as they can be"
Marcus Aurelius says that , In essence, you are what you care about
And he goes on to add that : "Its a fool's life to chase things outside of us"
the understanding is similar to the concept of Center of Gravity (C.G.) in Physics . :
On the other hand, When you chase outward material things ,the "stuff", the C.G. goes outside of you , like bearing a weight in the hands and it strains you out with burden;
when you chase things in your control , inner things,
the C.G. is inside of you and you are balanced;
Inner things: according to marcus aurelius are :
To do good to others
Venerate and Praise the Gods
Treat others with tolerance and restraint
Author " you must take your place with good humor and without being haughty"
