Seneca Says " Take Pains to live simply, Living simply is voluntary poverty"
Seneca talks a lot about wisdom;
Wisdom he says , is nothing but to live simply;
Live alongside Nature..Nature demands but a little
If you crave, then it is not natural - if you reach a point and still feel you are not satisfied - you are on wrong path
minimalism is the path of voluntary poverty - no accumulation or aggregation
Think of poverty from the basics -
- Food - Eat Bland - Drink Water - Fast for 1 day in a week
- Clothing - Dress Simple
- Shelter - where i live is good enough
Is there anything needed more? No
but it is tough to live simply - because it takes restraint - not to get carried away by the mob - and peer pressure - it requires practice and detachment - finding my own way and not afraid to be alone in the path
It takes guts to be not a consumer - consumption of senses
- Eyes : Videos
- Ears : Music
- Tongue : Food
- Nose : Aroma
- Feel : Touch
It takes courage to be restrained; ambition, envy, greed, jealousy and scorn do not need the courage
Seneca says " Set aside a certain number of days , during which you shall be content with the scantiest and cheapest fare, with coarse and rough dress, saying to yourself, "Is this the condition I feared? "
And when you live Simply - you are living to such an extent that - no ill luck can trouble you - No unfairness of fortune - can snatch away - live simply!!!
