Behave in Life as in a Banquet

pg.501 : the Enchiridion

Epictetus essay 15

Behave in Life as in a Banquet
A dish is handed around
and comes to you
put your hand and take it politely

If It passes you
Do not stop it
It has not reached you

don't be impatient to get it
rather wait till your turn comes

Bear yourself thus to - Children, Wife, Office, Wealth
and one day
you will be worthy to banquet with Gods!
